AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2024
- The Borough Council authorized the purchase of additional beach mats.
- Quotations are being obtained for window replacements at Borough Hall.
- Just a friendly reminder – please do not leave key fobs inside the vehicles.
- On August 6th, the SCPD attended the National Night Out at Bayview Park in Long Beach Township.
- Trunk or Treat will be on October 26th.
- Hydrant Flushing will begin the week of October 15th.

JULY 2024
- The Borough Council adopted the required NJDEP ordinances regarding salt storage and tree replacement. They also adopted a bond ordinance authorizing the spending for the painting and repair of the N. 14th Street water tower.
- The 2023 Audit was approved with no findings or recommendations.
- The new trash truck is scheduled to ship this week’s end.
- The Beach Patrol census shows that our beaches had a record number of patrons during the 4th of July week.
- FRAUD WARNING: there was a report that someone called a resident posing as the Chief of Police. Please be mindful of these calls and never give out any information without confirming credentials.
- There will be a meeting to repair the N. 22nd Street street end on July 15th at 3:00 pm. Contact the Clerk’s office for the links for the virtual meeting.
- There were sixty-five participants in the Hands on Learning Program at the Bay on Tuesday morning.
JUNE 2024
- The Borough approved the first reading of Bond Ordinance 2024-13 to authorize funding for the repair and painting of the N. 14th Street Water Tower.
- Rules for Pickleball Player have been established. The courts have been completed. We will meet with the pickleball committee in the fall to discuss improvements.
- The Governing Body honored resident Stanley Nidowicz for his 100th Birthday.
- Most of the beach mats have been installed on the beach side of the dune walkover.
- The Borough will be applying for the 2024 NJDOT grant to raise and reconstruct the 300 Blocks of N. 8th & N. 14th Streets, as recommended by the Borough Engineer.
- Mayor F. Hodgson reported that the Borough is still working with Ocean County for grant monies for drainage improvements.
2024 FIREWORKS
Thank you to the anonymous donors for the beautiful 4th of July fireworks display.
The Surf City Vol. Fire Co. No 1 and EMS, teamed with the Surf City Police Department, Public Works and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Departments for the outstanding display on July 3rd at 9:00 pm.
