Current Road Projects

 

N. 8th Street – 100 & 200 Blocks

Project Description – SFY 2022 Road Improvement Project, N. 8th St between Barnegat Avenue and Long Beach Blvd.: The total project includes approximately 1037 Tons of 9.5M64 HMA Top Course and Leveling, 722 Tons of 19M64 HMA Base Course, 2575 Square Yards of HMA milling, 2648 Square Yards of DGA, thirteen (13) drainage inlets, 665 LF of concrete curb, 469 LF total of 8-inch and 15-inch drainage pipe and all restoration including restriping, driveways, landscaping and cleanup. 

Schedule – The NJDOT has approved the plans to reconstruct N. 8th Street. The bid for the project has been scheduled for May 4th at 11:00 am in the Council Chambers at Borough Hall located at 813 Long Beach Boulevard, specs may be obtained through the Borough Engineer’s office. The drainage work for the project is set to begin mid September. A meeting will be arranged for the residents along N. 8th to provide more details and answer any questions. More information along the bid documents and plans will be provided in the coming months. 

Bid AwardResolution 2023-79 awarding the SFY 2022 Road Improvement Project bid, N. 8th Street, between Barnegat Avenue and Long Beach Blvd. Two bids have been received by the Borough Clerk as follows:

  • Earle Asphalt Co. in the amount of $406,413.13.
  • Arawak Paving Co., Inc in the amount of $427,800.00.

All bids have been forwarded for review by the Borough Engineer and the Borough Attorney, who recommend an award to Earle Asphalt Co. in the amount of $406,413.13.

UPDATE

Earle Asphalt will be arriving the week of September 18, 2023 to begin drainage work.

REVISED UPDATE   as of September 25, 2023

Drainage work will now begin September 26, 2023. After drainage work is complete the road is left to settle for concrete and milling/paving work. Concrete work will begin around October 23, 2023 with milling and paving to begin in early November. 

FINAL UPDATE – PROJECT HAS BEEN COMPLETED

Shore Avenue 

Project Description – The total project includes, but not limited to approximately 7,910 Square Yards of HMA Milling, 1,572 Tons of 9.5M64 HMA Top Course and Leveling Pavement, 55 Tons of 19M64 HMA base Course, 135 Cubic Yards of DGA, eight (8) Type A Inlets, two (2) Type E Inlets, 212 Linear Feet of 8-inch drainage pipe including stone trench, 460 Linear Feet of Concrete Curb, two (2) 12-inch Tide Valves and two (2) 24-inch Tide Valves and all site restoration required. 

Schedule – Working hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The work is expected to last a total of five weeks with time given for road to settle before milling & paving. The project should be completed by the end of May 2023.

UPDATE -All the drainage on both Shore Ave and N. 1st and 3rd has been installed.  The contractor/ mason will be on-site the week of May 1st through the 12th.  Paving is scheduled for the week of the 15th through the 19th.  All work will be done before Memorial Day.  The paving portion of the project will be completed by the end of 5/19/2023.

N. 1st & N. 3rd Street

Project Description – The total project includes approximately 1630 Tons of 9.5M64 HMA Top Course and Leveling, 321 Tons of 19M64 HMA Base Course, 8435 Square Yards of HMA milling, 885 Cubic Yards of DGA, twenty seven {27) Type A drainage inlets, 737 LF of concrete curb, 1764 LF total of 8-inch and 12-inch drainage pipe and all restoration including restriping, driveways, landscaping and cleanup.

Schedule – Working hours are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. The work is expected to last a total of five weeks with time given for road to settle before milling & paving. The project should be completed by the end of May 2023.
