The 2017 FINAL/2018 PRELIMINARY tax bills were mailed on July 26, 2017. 

The 2017 3rd quarter grace period has been extended through AUGUST 25, 2017. Payments received after August 25th will accrue interest as of the statutory due date of August 1st. Postmarks are not accepted. 


Payments can be accepted in person or by mail.  Checks should be made payable to the Borough of Surf City. If you are paying through your bank online, please include your Block and Lot as your account number. Please allow enough time for your bank to send the check to our office; this could take an estimated 7 to 10 business days. To avoid interest, payments must be received in our office by the 10th of the month.  If the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday, the next business day is the end of the grace period.

There is a return Check Fee of $20.00 for any check or draft returned unpaid for any reason.

For a receipt, send in your stub with your check and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
For your convenience, a Drop Box for payments is located outside the main entrance of Borough Hall.  Be sure to put your payment and tax stub in a sealed envelope before placing it in the Drop Box.

Homestead Credit Update

2013 Homestead Credits were applied to the May 2016 property tax bills.

 Questions regarding your credit amount should be directed to the NJ Division of Taxation 888-238-1233.

2015 Senior Freeze (Property Tax Reimbursement) Application Deadline Extended

 The deadline for homeowners to file their 2015 Senior Freeze Application

(Property Tax Reimbursement) has been extended to October 17, 2016.  Please contact the Division of Taxation at 1-800-882-6597

Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm with any filing questions.

Property Tax Deduction for Veteran, Widow of Veteran, Disabled Veteran: $250.00

**Property Tax Deduction for Senior Citizen, Surviving Spouse of a Senior: $250.00

**Annual income does not exceed $10,000 after permitted exclusions.

from the Tax Collector’s Office.
